Polyethene terephthalate is a thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family and is most often used in synthetic fibres as a material for plastic bottles, food containers, thermoforming applications and others. It is a polymer that is formed by combining modified ethylene glycol with purified terephthalic acid or dimethyl terephthalate. Pellets of PET resin are heated to a molten liquid, which can be easily moulded into almost any shape.
