Satellite transponders are used for receiving and transmission of uplink signals which are present in the payload part of a satellite. Single satellite may contain nearly 15 to 25 transponders. The transponders are used in the payload of the satellite to amplify the low power signals which are received. This function is performed by the high power amplifiers present in the transponders. These amplified signals are then sent back to earth by satellite.
